Nigel Farage complained on air the other day that we’ve failed to tackle extremism because people are “afraid of being called racist”. This led into the usual talk about how ‘you can’t say anything anymore’. The sort of long, and seemingly oblivious talk in which people talk at length about all the things that they can’t say.
Hello caller
One person said:
I was scrolling through the comments on The Daily Mail website earlier today. And I read what must have been 10,000 people complaining you can’t even say ****, ******, or **** anymore! And I see this everyday! In fact, I can’t remember the last time that I didn’t see people going into great detail about all the racial slurs that they can’t utter anymore! I mean, what went wrong with this country? I’ll tell you what – it was the fucking *****.
Another caller complained:
How are we supposed to tackle extremism, if you can’t even suggest rounding people up and gassing them?
While another opined:
There were never any terror attacks when you could still call a corner-shop a ****-shop! I mean, maybe there were? I seem to remember something to do with Ireland? But I REFUSE TO REMEMBER ANYTHING THAT DOESN’T BACK UP MY ARGUMENT!

If you yourself are worried that you ‘can’t say anything anymore’, maybe you should ask yourself a question.
Is it actually that you ‘can’t’ say it, or is it that people will think you’re a dick if you do?
Because if it’s the latter, you might just have to accept that people’s right to think you’re a dick is as valid as your right to be one.
