The Skimmer is an entirely novel vehicle type that can be used across the Destiny 2 universe. However, there is a catch: the Allstar Vector, the first Skimmer, is only available during the Guardian Games 2024 event, which takes place from March 5 to 26. Luckily, there is a way to forever unlock the Allstar Vector, which will let you keep hoverboarding after the Final Shape update comes out in June. In this Destiny 2 article, we will show you how to obtain the Exotic version of the Allstar Vector, which you can use indefinitely.
How to Get the Allstar Vector Skimmer in Destiny 2?
Before you can get the permanent Exotic form of the Skimmer, you have to get the regular version of it. To do so, complete Guardian Games’ Best in Class tutorial task. You can get it from Eva in the Tower, and she will require you to equip a special class item, complete a small mission in Guardian Games, and speak with several people.
After you’ve completed Best in Class, start Eva’s new quest. Once you acquire the “Drop In,” you will be given the ordinary edition of the Allstar Vector Skimmer. This mission may be challenging for new players. That’s why we recommend using the Destiny 2 carry service; it will make your journey in the game as smooth as possible. Keep in mind that the Common Allstar Vector differs significantly from the Exotic — the former will expire at the end of the Guardian Games. Now that you have the non-exotic skimmer, you can complete the “Drop In” to unlock the permanent version of the Skimmer.
Methods for Unlocking the Allstar Vector Permanently in Destiny 2
Once you reach the “Drop In” quest, it’s time to get to work. This quest awards the Exotic Skimmer and only requires one step. Keep in mind that the time dedicated to completing this mission will significantly differ based on your level of expertise and your availability to engage in the game at specific moments. For “Drop In,” there are three objectives to accomplish; however, only one of them is required to complete the mission.
#1 — Medallion Score
Medallion Score is the first objective, and it’s also the longest one to accomplish. It takes a long time to get a 1,200 Medallion Score in Guardian Games because you have to spend a lot of time winning medals and putting them on the podium. Each bronze medal is equal to 1 point; the Silver medal is worth 2 points; the Gold medal costs 5 points, and the Platinum medal brings 15 points.
If you get a lot of Platinum medals, you’ll be done rather quickly. But if you’re more of a less experienced player who usually gets bronze and silver medals, it will take some time to complete the mission. However, this is a guaranteed way for everyone to get the Skimmer, though, if you’re willing to put in the work.
#2 — Top 10% Nightfall Score
Finish in the top 10% of the Twilight Challenges. This is the fastest way to get a Skimmer, provided you have a strong team. However, in order to accomplish that, you will need two things: endgame PvE skills and endgame PvE buddies to round out your fire team. If you have both of them, this is an easy way to get the Skimmer.
#3 — Open Focus Activity Chests
Finally, there are several new Focus Activity packages. Essentially, every few hours, a new Guardian Games playlist will be the “Focus Activity” for two hours during the week and three hours on weekends. As you compete in the Focus Activity, you will collect extra chests ranging from bronze to gold. You can collect these chests simply by spending time in Focused Activity, so this is a great way to get the Skimmer. However, this option is suitable for those who have a lot of free time and can be in the game at a specific time.
How to Get the Winged Wolf Skimmer
During the Guardian Games, another Skimmer can be purchased from the Eververse store as part of the Gjallarheart Gear Bundle. The complete set is influenced by Norse mythology, which in turn recalls the legendary Gjallarhorn weapon design. Thunderlord has an armor set and a weapon ornament, but the Skimmer is only included in the gear bundle. For 2,500 Silver, you will receive a Ghost Shell, Ship, Shader, and Winged Wolf Skimmer. Unless you already have Silver, you’ll need to pay $29.99 to receive 3,000 (+500 bonus) Silver. Spending $19.99 only yields 2,300 Silver. That’s a lot, but it is worth an investment.
