Tom is an anarchist writer and organiser based in Bristol, who has been reporting on grassroots struggles for change for many years. Tom got involved in militant anti-war movements in opposition to the Iraq war and the arms trade in the early 2000s, and travelled to Palestine in solidarity with the ongoing uprising against Israeli colonisation.
Tom didn't train formally as a journalist, instead developing as a writer by helping to draft campaign statements and participating in grassroots media collectives.
Tom has faced state repression for his organising, and often writes in support of comrades experiencing violence and repression from the police and prison system. He has been involved in Kurdistan solidarity organising for many years, and his writing often focuses on how our movements can stand in solidarity with, and take inspiration from, the revolutionary ideas of the Kurdish Freedom Movement.
Tom is also part of two other radical media co-ops: Shoal Collective and Corporate Watch. He is the co-author of several books and reports, including Struggles for Autonomy in Kurdistan.
