James is a writer from a large and loud family, with a working-class upbringing in a town bordering both sea and countryside. Being the first in his family to study at university, he chose history and politics, spending much of his time reading the kind of books that lecturers and course heads did not recommend.

From this education, as well as a past and present of grassroots, bottom-up activism, he writes from the perspective of someone who seeks for a society without oppression and the hierarchy which causes it.

With this forever in mind, and with an anarchist perspective to help steer, he writes on issues such as the fight against Western far-right, the Palestinian liberation struggle, as well as the struggles of the oppressed and downtrodden in his community.
